I thought I should make a little disclaimer: The information contained in this article is for educational purposes only and not expert advice in the production of items made with obnoxious chemicals.
That said, the production of insecticides has been seen as a lucrative business, as pest, bugs, flies etc continues to pose great threat and challenges to our collective existence. Pest control chemicals are used on daily basis and as such the manufacturing of such, has definitely become a thriving business.
Below is the procedure of producing insecticides.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED: EUCALYPTUS OIL, INDUSTRIAL CAMPHOR, FORMALIN, CYPERMETHRIN, IPA AND WATER.
Eucalyptus oil is produced from a fast-growing evergreen tree called Eucalyptus globulus native to Australia. It is a colorless liquid with a strong woody and sweet scent. It may also have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, hence used medically to help relieve symptoms of the common cold and as decongestant in the treatment of bronchitis. However, it is also an insecticide and miticide according to the US official classification of 1948.
Camphor is a white, waxy solid or oil obtained from the wood of camphor tree and also manufactured from turpentine oil. It is also known for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, febrifuge, expectorant, decongestant, antimicrobial and insecticidal properties. It also add flavor with especially the raw camphor.
Formalin is made of solution of about 37%formaldehyde, 13% methanol and water. It is primarily useful as a disinfectant. Although it is not effective as insecticide, it has a pungent and repellant odor that can rout out insects from their hiding places.
Cypermethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid which is powerful insecticide that does the paralyzing the nervous system and killing of the insects that come in contact with it or ingest it. All these items can be purchased from any chemical shops around you.
MATERIALS NEEDED: SMALL MIXING BOWL, LONG SPOON, FUNNEL, 10ML
SYRINGE, MEASURING CUP AND SPRAY BOTTLE.
METHOD: To make 500mls of insecticide, put 25grms of industrial camphor into the bowl, add 200mls of IPA and stir to dissolve the camphor. Then add 50mls of eucalyptus oil and 50mls of formalin to it. Draw out 10mls of cypermethrin with the syringe and add into the mixture. Add water to make 500mls and pour into your spray bottle.
Have you seen, that production of insecticides is not a rocket science? You can do it too!
